Coz I had a bad day ...

There's a weight sitting on my shoulders today. It's the sum total of many little things gnawing at me and pulling me down.

Some jet lag.

Some sadness at the vacation being over.

Some at situations that were within my control but that I messed up anyway. Some of them affect me. That's OK, really. Some of them affect others. That's pissing me off.

Some at situations that really aren't in my control but whose ensuing poor outcome extends its shadow to people I love, and is unfair to them.

Some of it is an oncoming cold and a pain in the throat (not neck, surprisingly, after all that literal baggage I put my shoulders through on this trip) and a feeling that I'm about to fall sick - for like the 11th time this year.
(Mom, if you're reading this, I'm exaggerating. It's more like the 3rd time. Also don't call me about that email I wrote you this morning, I don't know how to talk about it. Yes I'm a coward.)

Some of it is my tummy reorienting itself to the Asian food clock, mostly kicking and screaming.

I refuse to succumb to an UGH day like this. Know what I'll do? Something I've wanted to for 2 weeks now - watch Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. :-)

Yes, I'm shallow like that. Atleast i'll sleep happy.

What do you do to unblue a bad day, say?

What works for me might not work for you....I wd go to the gym/jog on the beach, hot shower, glass of wine, hot soup, enjoy being alone with a light book (Louis L'amour)
But pl take a pat-on-the-back from me....this wl blow over.

happy B'day to you and blog...this year will rock! TC.

A particularly blue day here as well. Trying to beat it with chai and RD-Kishore-Lata-Gulzar (Is mod se jaate hain). Only trying.

Shoonyata: All that sounds like the stuff I'd do if i wasn't too physically exhausted. The movie lifted my spirits visibly though! :) Thanks for ur wishes :)

Prasad: Try Jaane Tu ya Jaane na? :) I hope you tide over the blue as well, and not by getting to work at 6.45 am :D

Well, there is a long tradition in favour of alcohol and drugs. But I don't think that's quite the sort of suggestion you were looking for :-)
Me, I think Monday night is comedy night on TV. Perhaps that would help?
And if all else fails, there's still music.

Mahogany: To be honest, there's very little a glass of nice wine cannot set right, except when the throat's on strike.
I say no to drugs (Mom, are you reading? Don't let that noble stmt go to waste no)
What I did do was watch a movie that combines your last 2 suggestions - it was funny and had incredible music :)

Yep Jaane Tu is on -- my friend watched it twice and refuses to watch it again with me!

What IS with that movie man? Everyone with a blog seems to be writing about it, everyone wants to see it twice, everyone is raving about it... everyone except me. Looks like there's something to be done over the weekend, even if it means jumping on the bandwagon a little too late!

Prasad: Go alone then? That was my plan anyway :)

Penguin: Bwahahaha. I will come along for repeat show. Also our beloved Pngli.
